Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye has put the blame on director of football Joe Kinnear for the fall-through of his move to Arsenal.

The Frenchman made it clear to the club that he wanted to leave in order to join Arsene Wenger’s side, but after the bid was rejected, nothing else materialised between the two parties.

Cabaye, who was booed on his return to action for The Magpies, refused to play during the second match of the season but has now claimed his place back in the first-team and has now asked Kinnear to be truthful about what happened during the Summer.

‘The only person who can explain what happened is Joe Kinnear,’ said Cabaye. ‘If he is honest, he will tell it. Otherwise it will not get out of my mouth.

‘Was my failed transfer to Arsenal difficult to swallow? At first, yes. But you have to quickly get focused again, because if you go on thinking about it you have a grudge against a lot of people and that is useless. ‘I quickly forget about it and go back to work.’
