Zaha Doesn’t Dive : Roy Hodgson

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has fired a warning for Watford mascot Harry the Hornet. The mascot sarcastically dived during a 1-1 draw against Watford at Vicarage Road to emulate the role of Wilfried Zaha who got booked by the referee for a stimulation.

Zaha has earned some sheer criticism for his diving over the last few seasons but the gaffer thinks his player doesn’t have the knack of diving. The Watford mascot got away without being charged by the FA but later Zaha accused there was an “agenda” against him when he again got a yellow card for diving.

Hodgson is determined he would do everything to stop the mascot from provocating Zaha. “Zaha does not dive.

“If you’re asking me whether Harry the Hornet, who I presume is the mascot, should dive in that way, I think it’s disgraceful, because that’s not what football matches are about.

“And certainly if it’s provoking the crowd into looking for something that’s not there, it should be stopped.”

“Wilf Zaha does not dive for penalties.

“He gets knocked over sometimes and sometimes he gets unbalanced without it being a penalty or a foul, because he runs at such speed and has such agility with the ball.”
