Zinedine Zidane insists Raphael Varane remains an integral part of his plans.
The Real Madrid defender’s future has been the subject of concern very recently. The French defender has been at the Spanish club for eight years and has formed an indomitable partnership with Sergio Ramos at the heart of Los Blancos defence.
The 25 year old played a pivotal part in France’s triumphant World Cup campaign but it hasn’t been a smooth ride for the defender as Madrid crashed out of the Champions League after a round of 16 defeat to Ajax.
With 12 points separating them and Barcelona, the La Liga campaign also seems to be all but over. A renewed approach in the next season is likely to be executed but it remains to be seen whether the player stays at the Santiago Bernabeu or not.
Zidane said, “I cannot imagine a future without Varane and I don’t want to.
“He’s a young player, he has been here for eight years and he is doing very well. I’m not going to comment on what is being said outside.
“The important thing is what the player tells me and for now he’s at the best club in the world, he’s won a lot of things and I think he is in a good place.”
