Zinedine Zidane has demanded more goals from Isco after the Spaniard scored his first of the La Liga season against Osasuna last night.
The hosts broke the deadlock through Unai Garcia but were nullified by Isco on the 33rd minute.
This was his second goal of the entire campaign, having started just 9 games in the La Liga. There is no doubt that the 27-year-old has fallen down the pecking order because of a lack in form. Zidane did praise Isco’s performance as he said, “I don’t think anything has changed. Isco’s an important player in this squad.
“He’s a player that always gives everything when he plays. He’s a good footballer. I like the way he plays. He’s technical and skilful. He’s very important for us. He had a brilliant game like everyone else, but above all I am happy about his goal, because he needs to score more goals.”
This particular display will go a long way in reestablishing Isco’s stature at the Santiago Bernabeu. He is still a quality attacking threat and a solid team player. Zidane very accurately pointed out the Spaniard’s strengths which are to hold on to possession and initiate attacks. If he bring back more goals to his game, like he did during his early Real days, he could once again become a fan favourite and not just a rotational option.
