United or China the destinations for big forward
It’s thought that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is considering Manchester United to be his only English destination this summer, but is still also considering offers from China.
Ibrahimovic is a free agent after leaving Paris Saint-Germain, where he won four Ligue 1 titles in four seasons, and it is understood Jose Mourinho has approved United’s efforts to sign the 34-year old. Mourinho believes Ibrahimovic can still make an impact in footballing terms at Old Trafford despite his age – he turns 35 in October.
Chinese clubs have demonstrated their immense spending power in recent months, and one club has been able to offer a contract that would pay him £26.6m (€35m) per season.
The decision for Ibrahimovic is whether his motivation is financial, or the opportunity to add to his already impressive footballing legacy. Ibrahimovic has won league titles in Holland, Italy, Spain and France, and could potentially add a Premier title to his considerable CV by joining Manchester United.
It’s thought that Ibrahimovic has received plenty of ‘concrete offers’ from several English clubs but will only consider Manchester United as an English destination, and even then he said he would only move if Louis van Gaal wasn’t in charge, which is now a reality.
