Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s performances this season have not been good enough to earn an extended deal at Manchester United, stresses ex-Red Devil Paul Parker.

The 35-year-old is United’s top scorer so far this term with 24 goals in 36 appearances in all competitions, but it has not been impressive enough to win over Parker.

Despite his good record since arriving at Old Trafford from French giants Paris Saint-Germain in the summer, Parker insists Ibrahimovic has not provided all-round class to Jose Mourinho’s outfit.

Ibrahimovic initially signed a one-year contract with the Red Devils ahead of this season, and Parker has gone against the suggestion that the former Sweden international should be offered a new deal.

“We have to look at where United are at the end of the season and ask if they have played the right kind of football,” 888sport.

“Yes Ibrahimovic’s goals have been very important but does he enhance the way the team plays? For me there are still negatives and when he scores he gets the headlines but when he doesn’t he’s not involved in enough play.

“When you keep reading about a new contract you wonder where that’s coming from.”
