Las Vegas NHL Odds
If you have questions like how to read Hockey Las Vegas money line odds, then look no further because we have all the answers right here. Reading NHL Vegas odds can be tricky for somebody even if they follow the sport. All you have to do is pick your favourite team on moneyline.
You’ll have the choice of picking either a favourite or an underdog. Then you can pick the way of victory, whether it is going to be in regulation, overtime or through a shootout. There are other odds on the perfect scoreline but for winning outright, you don’t need to worry about it.
All the contests you want to vote on can be viewed on the Vegas NHL odds board. It shows you the odds, date and time of the National Hockey League contests on the slate. Now, the underdogs are clearly indicated by the positive (+) symbol next to their odds number and the favourite by the negative (-) symbol. Here is a neat example to explain to you perfectly.
Canucks -160 (Bet $100 to win $62.50)
Stars +145 (Bet $100 to win $145)
As you can see, the Canucks are listed as the strong favourite (-), while the Stars are the underdogs (+). Now, there also bookies who offer odds in fractions. In that case, the Canucks would be listed as a 5/8 favourite. The decimal format is more popular overseas than in North America. Canucks for 1.625 will be seen on the big board.
The Stars are the underdogs here. So, they will give you higher returns. Like on a $100 wager, you will get $245. The winning margin alone is $145 with fractional odds of 29/20 and at 2.45 with the decimal conversion. Watch and Bet on Sports =>
NHL Odds & Puck Lines
There is another form of NHL betting known as the puck line odds. The NHL odds are skewed for this one where the stronger team will be handicapped by 1.5 goals. Sticking with the example used above, you would be able to bet on Canucks -1.6 in the hockey lines. The Stars would then have to win by 2 or more goals in order for your bet to pay off.
If they won by just the one goal, your bet will turn null. However, you can still expect a hefty payout due to the finer odds on the underdog. Otherwise, you can always bet on the Stars themselves at +1.45. If the Canucks win or lose by a single goal, then, your bet pays off. But that would slash your potential payout since the expected odds are in the negatives.
Puck lines are great if you think a team will win by a large margin. You can use to your advantage to drive up your bet value. You can also call on an underdog team who you think might lose by a narrow margin. But keep in mind, all these factors only makes the window narrower for yourself. So finer the margin, more the risk. But then again, more the reward.
