Top 5 players Real Madrid can sell in January transfer window
The January transfer window is almost upon us, and all the big guns of European football have started planning for the one-month-long window. While it is the additions to the squad that the fans are most interested in, there are always a few players who leave the club in the January window, mostly those who have failed to get as many chances as they would have hoped for in the new season.
Here are five players that Real Madrid could do without going ahead in the season and can sell them in the January transfer window.
5. Ferland Mendy

The left-hand rear Lille’s Edon Zhegrova tortured Ferland Mendy all night. He had such a bad first half that Ancelotti substituted Fran Garcia for the 29-year-old at halftime. According to Defensa Central, the Real Madrid boss is also tired of the Frenchman’s performances and would want to see him leave. Mendy has recently extended his contract through 2027, so he is not under any obligation to leave the city in Spain. However, as Ancelotti pressurizes Florentino Perez to buy Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies, Mendy’s days as a reliable starter seem to be coming to an end.
Mendy has not scored or provided an assist in any of Madrid’s six La Liga games this season, despite starting each one. Davies, however, continues to leave his mark on Germany. The 23-year-old seems to be headed to Madrid to join stars like Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham, as his contract at the Allianz expires at the conclusion of the current season, and there are no signs that he will sign a new one.
4. Lucas Vázquez
According to Fichajes, Lucas Vazquez’s future at Real Madrid is in doubt as Sevilla has apparently entered the race to sign him. Sevilla appears to be a genuine contender for the club captain’s services, despite the fact that he has been linked to multiple teams. In 2025, his Real Madrid contract will expire. Due to his versatility, Vazquez has been a valuable member of Real Madrid over the years.
The following season, though, his role would be diminished because of the team’s increased competition and the inclusion of new players. Now that the situation has changed, the player may consider options outside of the Santiago Bernabéu. This potential move is much more appealing for Sevilla because they have the opportunity to sign Vazquez on a free transfer next summer.
3. Jesus Vallejo
According to AS, Jesus Vallejo’s time with Real Madrid has come to an end. He joined Real Madrid in 2015, but after a series of loan moves and trouble adjusting, his nine-year tenure may soon come to an end. It is anticipated that Carlo Ancelotti will swallow his pride and take offers for the defender into consideration this summer.
Jesus Vallejo was one of the first moves made under Carlo Ancelotti. He was signed at the same transfer window as players like Casemiro, Danilo, Marco Asensio, and Lucas Vazquez. As a result, the vision at the time is clear, but only a small number of players lived up to the hype. Real Madrid and Jesus Vallejo will not harbor resentment for one another. In fact, his failure at Real Madrid could be easily explained by the level of competitiveness in the starting lineup. After all, he was competing with players like Sergio Ramos, Rafael Varane, Pepe, Antonio Rudiger, and David Alaba for a spot on the squad.
2. Dani Carvajal
Real Madrid has begun searching for a right-back to replace Dani Carvajal following his injury, according to sources who talked to ESPN. The La Liga team is aware that finding the right player during the January transfer window would be difficult, though. Due to the defender’s extended absence, Lucas Vázquez, a former winger, is Madrid’s only senior right-back option.
Since Carvajal’s injury, more than ten players have already been offered to Madrid; nevertheless, it will be challenging to sign the most desirable ones because they are already under contract with other teams. After losing out on center-back Leny Yoro last summer owing to Nacho’s departure, Madrid is looking for alternatives because their first-team defense is already deficient.
1. Luka Modric
Andriy Lunin had to fill huge shoes during the previous season. Despite missing the majority of the season because of knee problems, Lunin did a great job filling in for Thibaut Courtois. The squad won the La Liga and Champions League crowns with the Ukrainian in goal, but Courtois will be benched now that he is fully recovered.
Even though Lunin had a relatively rough Euro 2024 season and made several blunders while playing for Ukraine, he is still highly rated and has been linked to a move to the Premier League. Although it’s unknown if he’ll be willing to wait a few seasons to get his shot, Real Madrid sees Lunin as Courtois’ long-term replacement. Watch & Bet Football Here =>
