There will be four Arsenal players in this year’s African Cup of Nations. They are Egypt’s Mohamed Elneny, Gabon’s Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, Ivory Coast’s Nicolas Pepe and Ghana’s Thomas Parte.
Elneny is one of Egypt’s most experienced players with 74 Premier League appearances to his name. He made 41 appearances for Arsenal last season, scoring three goals. This is Elneny’s third AFCON as he was a part of Egypt’s squad for the previous AFCON in 2019. Elneny opened the scoring for Egypt in the final against Cameroon in 2017 which Egypt eventually lost.
Pierre Emerick Aubameyang will also be back in action for Gabon. He is struggling at Arsenal to find regular time under Arteta. He made 14 appearances this season in Premier League, scoring 4 goals. He was recently sacked as the skipper of Gunners.
