Dana White: Lightning Is the Only Thing That Can Stop the White House Card
Dana White has made one thing crystal clear: the White House Card is happening. Rain, snow, or heavy winds will not stop UFC Freedom 250 from taking place on the South Lawn this June 14.
During an appearance with streamer Adin Ross, White explained his rare decision to hold a numbered event outdoors—something he typically avoids due to unpredictable weather.
But for this flagship 2026 event, he is willing to make an exception.
“We’re fighting,” White said flatly. “If it f***ing snows, we are fighting.”
The UFC boss then named the only condition that would force a delay.
“Lightning is the only thing,” White added.
“Nothing will stop this show going that night, it can rain it can snow—lightning is the only thing that would really screw us.”
If lightning strikes near the venue, White confirmed the promotion would simply wait out the storm and then resume the fights.
Fans will get a preview this Saturday during UFC 327 on Paramount, where the promotion will air a special feature showing exactly how the Octagon and South Lawn setup will look.
But does lightning pose a real risk in Washington, D.C., on June 14? The numbers say yes. D.C. has a humid subtropical climate, and summer thunderstorms occur frequently.
May through September marks the district’s storm season. Between 2010 and 2019, the city averaged 557 cloud-to-ground lightning flashes per year, with most striking during the humid summer months.
June also brings an average of eight rainy days—roughly one in every four days.
While minor weather is certainly possible, White made his position clear: as long as lightning stays away, the fights go on.
