Chelsea linked with a move for Aleksandr Mitrovic to replace Giroud and Morata 1

Chelsea chasing ÂŁ20 million-rated Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic

According to the Sun, Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic is unsettled at the club since the sacking of Slavisa Jokanovic and Everton and Chelsea have hardened their interest in the Serb.

Both Everton and Chelsea have struggled to find a permanent solution to their No.9 woes this season. Cenk Tosun’s poor form has forced Marco Silva to use Richarlison as the spearhead of the attack while Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata have largely underwhelmed for the west Londoners.

Giroud has scored only once in the Premier League while Morata has scored 5 but the Spaniard has not done enough to convince Maurizio Sarri that he can deliver the goods n a consistent basis.

Sarri has used Eden Hazard as the false nine in his front three against Manchester City and Brighton but Chelsea need a prolific centre-forward to boost their Premier League hopes. And Mitrovic has emerged as the latest striker on Chelsea’s radar.

The Serb struggled in his initial days in the Premier League at Newcastle United but a loan move to Fulham last season resurrected his career. The Cottagers signed him permanently for ÂŁ20 million after he helped them secure promotion to the Premier League.

Mitrovic has netted 7 goals from 17 appearances for Fulham in the Premier League this season, evoking interest from Chelsea and Everton as the Cottagers continue to battle relegation. If reports are to be believed, the Serb is not enjoying life under Claudio Ranieri and with Fulham struggling at the bottom of the table, a move might well be on the cards in January.
