Klopp hails Fabinho in wake of United triumph
Jurgen Klopp has showered praises on Brazilian midfielder Fabinho in wake of Liverpool’s 3-1 triumph over Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday. Xherdan Shaqiri’s deflected brace sealed all three points for the hosts after Sadio Mane’s opener was cancelled out by Jesse Lingard.
Along with Naby Keita and Alisson, Fabinho was one of the big signings for Liverpool this summer. Jurgen Klopp splashed £43.7 million on the Brazilian as a part of his spending spree which saw him become the highest spending manager in the Premier League.
After a slow start to life in the Premier League, Klopp’s mega-money signing is now paying rich dividends. Fabinho absolutely dominated the midfield with his passing and distribution as the Reds demolished Mourinho’s men 3-1 on Sunday.
And Klopp spoke of his summer recruit in glowing terms. The German said, ” He was outstanding. Absolutely outstanding.”
Klopp further added, ”
On Tuesday, we played against Napoli one of the best games of the season, an outstandingly strong opponent, we played with [James] Milner, [Jordan] Henderson and [Georginio] Wijnaldum in midfield.
“That’s what I said. It’s the heart and soul of the game we need. And as long as we can make these changes, we will make these changes. That’s how it is. They have fresh legs and are fresh in the mind. Always they go for it.”
“Then they have a game like Fabinho had, along with Gini fantastic, Naby [Keita] played so naturally smart in that half-space because it’s not easy to defend a winner and everybody is shouting, ‘Don’t stay there inside’ and stuff like that.
“Fabinho played at the highest level, that’s true.”
