Antonio Conte speaks out about Chelsea’s January transfer plans
Antonio Conte made it clear that he wasn’t happy with some of Chelsea’s transfer business last summer, with the Blues failing to sign a stiker as requested to provide back-up to Alvaro Morata.
With the Blues returning to the Champions League this season, the Italian boss wanted more depth and they have struggled at times with injuries as a result of the busier calendar.
However, it’s likely that Chelsea will be busy in the January and Antonio Conte has spoken out ahead of their plans for the new year transfer window.
Speaking about Manchester City and his squad, Conte told press: “It is better if once my club ask me [what signings] I need to catch them up then I will answer. But in a private way.”
“We are in November and now we have to fight with this squad. I want to repeat that I am very happy to work with these players and try to do our best in this tournament.”
“If one day the club try to ask me something about this topic I can give my opinion.”
It appears that the Italian has not yet been asked which areas he would like strengthening in January, which will worry Chelsea fans given that they are already 10 points behind leaders City.
A striker has been on Conte’s wishlist for a while now, and they may also need another defender if David Luiz leaves the club.
