Barcelona line up Chelsea star as alternative to Coutinho
Barcelona have supposedly shown an interest in Chelsea winger Willian, and are looking at the Brazilian as an alternative should a move for Philippe Coutinho fall through.
The Blaugrana have a long standing interest in the Liverpool star, but know that a deal will be difficult after the Reds rejected three offers for their prized asset last summer.
According to Goal.com, the Barcelona board have earmarked Coutinho’s compatriot Willian as their plan B, with a deal looking a lot more straightfoward given that the Brazilian has been on the periphery at Stamford Bridge this season.
The 29 year-old has started just seven matches in all competitions this season, and would be available at a much cheaper price than his international counterpart.
Barca still have around £100million left to spend from the Neymar deal, and will most likely spend big again in January after signing Ousmane Dembele as a replacement back in August.
Willian joined Chelsea back in 2013 and was a key man during Jose Mourinho’s second spell at the club, but has not had quite the same influence since Antonio Conte took over 18 months ago.
