Loyalty is important.

Even in a sport like Football, loyalty is hugely important, weather it be from a fan, or from the players on the pitch.

Fans especially appreciate when a player is loyal to the club they are at, despite this loyalty becoming less and less common in the modern game.

So here’s a list of 10 one club men, who remained loyal to the club they loved!

NUMBER 10 –  Rogério Ceni – Sao Paulo (1152 appearances)

Ceni is the most capped player for any team in history. 1152 appearances is astonishing and he did this over a period of 2 decades, and has won an incredible SEVENTEEN titles with Sao Paulo.

NUMBER 9 – Tony Adams – Arsenal (672 appearances)

By many considered one of the greatest English centre backs of all time and boasted an impressive trophy return while at Arsenal, notably scoring the final goal against Everton to seal the Championship in 98′.

NUMBER 8 – Francesco Totti – Roma (707 appearances)

A hero to all Roma fans, and admired by all fans of the beautiful game, Totti is considered one of the most loyal of his generation, and being an incredible player certainly helped too.

NUMBER 7 – Paul Scholes – Man Utd (718 appearances)

A Manchester United legend, considered one of the best English midfielders of all time, and was always loyal to United, without fail.

NUMBER 6 – Jamie Carragher – Liverpool (737 appearances)

Liverpool’s vice-captain for 10 years, and is the club’s second-longest ever serving player, making his 737th appearance for Liverpool in all competitions on 19 May 2013.

NUMBER 5 – Carlos Puyol – Barcelona (682 appearances)

A born leader and been a rock at the back for Barcelona for 16 years. He rose through the ranks at Barcelona B and C level and is also 1 of the few Spaniards to be capped 100 times.

NUMBER 4 – John Terry – Chelsea (627 appearances)

Another man considered one of the greatest English center-backs of all time, Captain Leader Legend for Chelsea, a man who has won it all for the Blues’ with the captains armband, and regarded as a true hero for the Blue side of London.

NUMBER 3 – Paolo Maldini – AC Milan (902 appearances)

He spent all 25 seasons of his career at Milan before retiring at the age of 41 as a legend and icon at Milan.

NUMBER 2 – Steven Gerrard – Liverpool (669 appearances)

Gerrard was honoured as the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year and won the Ballon d’Or Bronze Award, and has always been loyal to Liverpool, despite much interest from clubs like Chelsea and Real Madrid, once stating that if he hadn’t loved Liverpool as much as he did, he would have accepted Jose Mourinho’s offer to join Chelsea.

NUMBER 1 –  Ryan Giggs – Man Utd (963 appearances)

Holds the club record for competitive appearances. During his time at United, he won 13 Premier League winner’s medals, four FA Cup winner’s medals, three League Cup winner’s medals and two Champions League winner’s medals. He has two runner-up medals from the Champions League, three FA Cup finals and two League Cup finals, as well as being part of the team five times when it finished second in the Premier League.
