Players too good for their teams? Which players are too good for their current team? Here we have developed a list of 10 players who are too good for their current teams.
Which of these players do you agree are too good for their current teams? We think that there are lots of players across Europe that fit this criteria so decided it would be a good idea to develop a list of these players. It’s possible that these players could seek to move away from their current teams this summer, in search for a better club.
We have recently done other lists, such as top 10 FAT footballers, and players who have covered the most distance this season. Be sure to check those out too!
So here it is, here is our list of players too good for their current teams. Are there any we have missed? Which players have we overrated?
Everton is of course a big club in England but Lukaku is currently leading the golden boot race and by far the best player in Everton’s team. Without him, Everton would be really struggling. A move to Manchester United could be on the cards for Lukaku this summer, which would be more of his level when it comes to clubs in England
United are also interested in this fella, who has had a great season in Serie A. However, Barcelona would be the most likely destination for him, as they too are eager to snap up the best young striker in Italy at the moment.
Dembele has been fantastic under Brendan Rodgers at Celtic this season, but the SPL is closer to Sunday League standard than Premier League standard. To get the best out of his career, Dembele needs a move elsewhere, perhaps to Chelsea, where he would be able to prove himself at a top level.
Where will this guy end up this summer? Claude Puel, manager of Southampton, has insisted that Van Dijk will remain at St. Mary’s next season, but we seriously doubt that. The defender has been targeted by Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea this summer, and any one of those clubs would be closer to his standard of ability. Where will he be when the new season starts?
Pickford is almost nailed-on for a move this summer, he would be completely wasted playing in the Championship for Sunderland next season. It’s more than likely that he will still be playing Premier League football next season, and beyond that, who knows for him?
Oscar moved away from Chelsea in January to join Shangai SIPG. He may be on loads of money, but is he really making the best use of his football ability? We don’t think so. He should seek to move back to Europe and start playing in the Champions League again, that is the level he should be playing at.
The ‘Kante-esque’ midfielder who is thought to be on the wishlist of Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp this summer. He likes to play in a deep midfield role and break up the play. Leipzig will be in the Champions League next season, but that doesn’t mean Keita is too good for them. A true test of his quality would be in the Premier League, or one of Europe’s top clubs. Liverpool would be a good move for him if they also make it into the Champions League.
Sigurdsson is a massively underrated player, he works very hard and has been outstanding for struggling Swansea this season. He had a spell at Tottenham but moved back to Swansea, perhaps wrongly. We feel that Sigurdsson would be better suited to playing one of the Premier League’s top 6.
He’s only 22, but he’s valued at £70million and could easily get into many of the top teams around Europe. If someone like Real Madrid came in to buy him, he should for sure take up their offer.
Sanchez is the only player world-class, or even close to world-class, in the Arsenal team. A player like him should be at a superclub and be competing for league titles and European cups.
