Which legends would we have loved to see in the league?

A lot of fantastic players have graced English football over the years.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez, Ryan Giggs, Didier Drogba. The list could go on and on.

It’s one of the reasons that the Premier League is considered by many as the best in the world.

However, it wasn’t good enough to lure some of history’s greatest players to come from across Europe and spend some of their career over here.

Here are 10 players that DIDN’T play in the Premier League, but oh lord, we wish that they had.

10) Oliver Kahn

One of the greatest goalkeepers in history, but loved his country and his club too much to come to England

9) Ronaldinho

He was linked with Chelsea a few times, but one of the greatest players ever to play the sport never made it to the Premier League.

8) Stefen Effenberg

He had a passing range that was admired by all, and could’ve been a fantastic midfield partner for someone like Paul Scholes, but it was never to be.

7) Christian Vieri

Imagine a much better version of Andy Carroll. Now, if only we could’ve swapped Andy Carroll for this guy, Liverpool might’ve spent that £35million more wisely.

6) Ronaldo

Ah, how we’d have loved to have seen that hair in our country.

5) Dejan Savićević

The man had many plaudits, including Sir Alex Ferguson, who would recall being mesmerised by the “sensational” Yugoslav in his autobiography.

4) Paolo Montero

A rock at the back, famously was quoted saying

“When I get on a football pitch, my only desire is to win. I’m not thinking about being a role model for my sons or for the fans watching me. I don’t think it’s true to say that you are disloyal to football if you feign an injury, or tug a shirt or do something else to win the game, as winning games is the purpose of football.”

3) Francesco Totti

The man would never have left Roma for any club, but it would’ve been awesome to see his talent grace the Premier League at some point.

2) Zinedine Zidane

An outstanding player who was a world-class talent. It would’ve been fantastic to see him in the Premier League.

1) Alessandro Del Piero

Just a legend of Italian football, he would’ve ripped up the Premier League.
