Italian side no longer interested in Fabregas

AC Milan have dropped their interest in Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas, claiming that he does not have the ‘characteristics’ for their team.

Fabregas has been linked with a move away from Chelsea in either January or next summer, after failing to impress new manager Antonio Conte.

But Milan boss Vincenzo Montella claims Fabregas does not have the ‘characteristics’ needed to replace injured captain Riccardo Montolivo, who is out for six months with a knee ligament injury.

Montella said: “We’re looking for a player who has the characteristics that Montolivo has, who can also operate in a defensive-midfield two.

“Fabregas? He doesn’t have those characteristics.”

Fabregas is yet to force his way into Chelsea’s first-team this season, making just one Premier League start in the tough 3-0 defeat away to former club Arsenal on September 24th.

Conte has highlighted his desire for defensive stability in the team, claiming he won’t sleep properly until the defensive issues are sorted. It appears that Fabregas will have to change the nature of his game if he wishes to stay in London.
