Former-AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato has revealed that he turned down offers from Premier League clubs back in January in order to stay at Brazilian side Corinthians.

The Brazilian left Seria A in order to return to his homeland ahead of next year’s World Cup, ending a six-year successful spell at the San Siro where he scored 51 goals in 117 matches, making him one of Europe’s hottest young properties.

However, he eventually made his move back to Brazil and since returning, he has netted seven times in 18 appearances, which apparently caught the eye of some un-named Premier League sides.

In a interview, Pato was reluctant to reveal who the clubs were that were after him, but he did admit that offers were on the table, with speculation linking it to being Tottenham Hotspur.

“I received offers, they called Corinthians, sent a fax, to sign me in the window, but I sat down with the staff, talked with my agent and I told them I wanted to stay,” he told Sportv.

“I wanted to help Corinthians fight for a place in Libertadores.”
