Premier League duo Arsenal and Chelsea have both been put on red alert after Summer target Stephan Lichtsteiner failed to agree a new deal at current club Juventus.

The Swiss right-back is about to enter his final year on his current contract, and after a brilliant season in Italy for the eventual-champions, he has caught the eye of both London giants in England, with both on the look out for new right-backs.

Arsenal are in need of a first-team right-back after losing Bacary Sagna to Manchester City, and Chelsea may be looking for one as back-up to Cesar Azpilicueta, who could also be moved to left-back.

The 30-year-old scored twice last season for Juve, and assisted eight times as the Turin-club sealed yet another Serie A championship, but after contract talks broke down, the defender could be sold this year so that they don’t lose him on a free this time next season.

It’s believed that Juventus offered Lichtsteiner a contract worth £2m-a-year, but the Swiss wants at least £2.4m-a-year.
