Arsenal and Chelsea have both been punished by the FA for ‘failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion.’

This comes after a heated match between the two sides at Stamford Bridge on September 19th.

Arsenal’s Gabriel saw red for kicking out at Diego Costa before Santi Cazorla was also given his marching orders after picking up two yellow cards.

Rescinded

Gabriel’s suspension was later rescinded after an appeal from the club whilst Diego Costa was hit with a three-game ban for a clash with Laurent Koscielny.

Chelsea have been fined £40,000 whilst Arsenal must fork out £30,000 with both sides also warned about their future conduct.

The Blues took all three points from the game thanks to Kurt Zouma and Eden Hazard.

The FA have released a statement on the matter: “Following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing, Chelsea and Arsenal have been fined £40,000 and £30,000 respectively and warned as to their future conduct after both clubs admitted a breach of FA rule E20,”

“The charge was for failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion from the 44th to the 47th minute of the game at Stamford Bridge on 19 September 2015,”

“The Independent Regulatory Commission considered the previous disciplinary records of both clubs in reaching its decision on sanction.”
