The Mirror have reported that Arsenal have shown new interest in defender Ashley Williams following defensive problems for the Gunners.
Wenger sent scouts to watch the 28-year-old during Swansea’s Europa League win against Malmö on Thursday night.
Swansea originally wanted £10 million for the Welshman, a sum which Arsenal wasn’t ready to pay. Now, however, Swansea could be willing to let him go for £8.5 million.
Arsenal have during the pre-season suffered from some defensive set-backs with both Thomas Vermaelen and Nacho Monreal expected to miss the start of the season.
This has left Wenger looking for someone to strengthen their options.
