The 18-year-old is wanted by Arsenal and Chelsea. He says that he is aware of interest from top European clubs but is currently enjoying his time at Schalke, where he is establishing himself as a first-team regular and has Champions League football to look forward to in the coming weeks.
The youngster signed a new contract with the Bundesliga outfit before Christmas, but he was coy when asked if the new deal included a buy-out clause.
He told Welt: “I cannot say anything. Because you have to ask other people.”
Meyer also said he had read a column written by respected pundit and former West Germany international Gunther Netzer advising him to reject the advances of Premier League clubs in order to continue his development at Schalke.
He said: “I’ve also read.
“If Mr Netzer says that it probably must be so.”
