Arsenal Football Club are preparing a new and improved contract for Alexis Sanchez after his stunning debut season for the club.
The Gunners forked out over £30million for the Chilean when signing him from FC Barcelona last summer, and after a stand-out debut season in the Premier League, club officials want him tied down on a long-term contract.
The 26-year-old has quickly become a fan favourite at the Emirates Stadium due to his skill and work-rate which often carries the team to victories.
Alexis netted his first goal of the season last weekend against Leicester City, and his first was soon followed by a second and a third as he went home with the match-ball during an impressive 5-2 victory.
The forward’s current deal expires in 2018, but Arsene Wenger and board members want him tied down on a longer contract, with talks expected to start around the Christmas period.
An Arsenal source said: “It would be no surprise if there was a new contract offer.”
