Arsenal are once again ready to hold talks with Manchester United regarding a possible transfer.

After securing Danny Welbeck from their long-term rivals in the Summer, The Gunners are now preparing a £10million bid for centre-back, Chris Smalling.

The 24-year-old, who was tipped for a big future during his Fulham days, has failed to develop at Old Trafford and now faces being axed from the team after his foolish red-card against rivals-Manchester City.

Louis Van Gaal, who is in need of defensive reinforcement, is ready to sell the Englishman and it’s believed that he would accept a £10m bid, which is thought to be acceptable by Arsene Wenger, who is also in dire need of defensive signings.

Both clubs have been linked with Mats Hummels from Borussia Dortmund and Ron Vlaar from Aston Villa, but Wenger is reportedly a fan of Smalling due to his versatility at the back.

A £10m offer may be made in January after Smalling has been told he is free to leave in the New Year.
