Gunners dealt transfer blow after Karim Benzema dismissed move

Arsenal will now turn their attentions to Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani after they were snubbed by Karim Benzema, who has chosen to stay at Real Madrid.

The Gunners are in the market for a new striker before the transfer window slams shut on September 1, but they were dealt a massive blow last night when Benzema rejected a chance to leave the Bernabeu.

Benzema posted a picture of himself on his official Twitter account and dismissed speculation about a move to the Emirates Stadium, claiming Madrid is his home.

Arsene Wenger is a massive fan of the Frenchman, but will now have to change his plans in the market.

Attentions Turn to Cavani

According to reports, Arsenal will now focus on trying to land PSG striker Cavani, who is still reportedly unsettled in France.

Cavani has been frustrated over recent months in Ligue 1 mainly down to playing on the wing to accommodate for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and according to reports, the Uruguayan is ready to leave.

Reports suggest that Arsenal could make a £42m move for Cavani and are hoping to wrap it up before the window shuts.
