Duo are set for yet another FA Cup clash

Hull City and Arsenal are set to do battle once again in the FA Cup, making it four ties in the past three competitions.

With the FA Cup replay tonight at the KC Stadium, we thought it would be appropriate to take a look back into the three previous matches the two have played out in the past two seasons.

The prize for tonight’s winner is a home tie against Premier League outfit Watford in the Quarter Final, but if history is anything to go by, it will be Arsenal who advance.

Lets take a look back into the previous encounters

Arsenal 3-2 Hull City – FA Cup Final 2014

The long-awaited trophy for Arsenal and Arsene Wenger.

After waiting almost 10-years for a trophy, the Gunners finally picked up an FA Cup thanks to an Aaron Ramsey extra-time winner against the Tigers.

However, they didn’t do it comfortably.

In fact, Arsenal were 2-0 down inside 10-minutes. James Chester and Curtis Davies had given Steve Bruce‘s men a two-goal cushion before Kieran Gibbs prevented it from being 3-0 by blocking a header off the line.

Santi Cazorla pulled Arsenal back into it with a stunning free-kick, before a second-half Laurent Koscielny goal made it 2-2 with 19-minutes to play.

Into extra-time and in the 109th minute, Ramsey popped up in the box to fire past Allan McGregor.

Game over and a piece of silverware once again for Arsenal.

Arsenal 2-0 Hull City – FA Cup Third Round

Who would have thought their next FA Cup game after the thrilling final would be against each other?!

Well that is exactly what happened.

In the Third Round of the cup the following season, Hull had to travel to the Emirates Stadium and this time around they were comfortably beaten.

Goals from Per Mertesacker and Alexis Sanchez booked Arsenal‘s spot in the Fourth Round and eliminated Hull from the competition.

As we all know, Arsenal went on to win the FA Cup again that year.

Arsenal 0-0 Hull City – FA Cup Fifth Round

They meet again.

Yes this season they once again met in the FA Cup, this time in the Fifth Round and thanks to the heroics of Hull goalkeeper Eldin Jakupović, we’ve got ourselves yet another encounter.

Hull went to Emirates heavy underdogs but managed to come away with a 0-0 draw and set up tonight’s replay at the KC Stadium.

Jakupovic was in top-form, making several top-class saves to deny Arsenal.

So what will the fourth game have in store for us?
