In today’s press conference, Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, confirmed that the club are watching Ipswich Town defender, Tyrone Mings.

The young Englishman, who can play left-back and centre-back, is also wanted by Chelsea, who see him as a long-term replacement for John Terry, but it seems that Arsenal are in pole position to land the 21-year-old.

Earlier today it was reported that Arsenal would lodge an £8million bid for Mings in January, with Ipswich resigned to losing their star-defender, and speculation will heat up now after Wenger’s latest comments in his press conference.

‘We are not on any special case,’ he said.

‘There are a few young players we follow yes. He [Mings] is one of the players we follow but we are not on anything there.’
