Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, is confident that Theo Walcott will commit his future to the club within the month.

The England international has been the talk of the transfers so far this season because of his failure to sign a new contract at the club. There has been so much speculation, that a song has been made about the situation called ‘Sign Da Ting’.

Walcott, 23, rejected a contract back in the summer for roughly £75k-a-week and reports suggested that he was looking for closer to £100k-a-week. However, he denied that himself saying it was more about being played up front rather than down the wing.

It is reported that Walcott will soon sign a five-year extension at Arsenal whilst earning £90k-a-week, making him one of the top earners at the club.

Arsene Wenger has said: We are on a good road with Theo. I was optimistic last week, but even more optimistic this week.

‘Do I expect him to sign by the end of the month? Yes. Discussions are going smoothly.’

He added: ‘Theo can have a preference maybe to play through the middle, but first of all he never made a condition of that to extend his contract, because certainly I would not accept it.

‘Secondly he was always happier when he plays, whether it is on the flank or through the middle. That has no influence at all. Theo just wants to play and he is happy to play on the flank as well.’

‘Walcott is a different animal now. His finishing has improved significantly and you can see a difference with the runs he makes.’

Arsenal fans will be bouyed by the news that their star-man is finally ready to commit to the club after recent reports linking him away from the club.
