Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini wants to make a move for Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic in the new year and the deal could see Joe Hart go the other way on loan for the rest of the season.

Pellegrini is not happy with the amount of mistakes Hart has been making in recent months, and has even dropped the England number-one for Costal Pantilimon, who has been in goal for the last few weeks.

However, the Chilean boss doesn’t see Pantilimon as his future number-one and he is keen to sign a new ‘keeper in January and it is Begovic who is topping his wishlist at the moment.

In order to sweeten the deal, City may offer Stoke around £15million plus giving them Hart on loan for the rest of the season, so that he 26-year-old can still play regular football ahead of the World Cup in Brazi.

It is believed that City will pay the majority of Hart’s wage, which is around £110k-a-week, if he does end up going out on loan to Mark Hughes’ side.
