Arsenal will try and sign Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang if they fail to sign Real Madrid star Karim Benzema.
The Gunners have been long-term admirers of Benzema, with Arsene Wenger following him since his Lyon days, but as of yet, he’s failed to land his star-target.
According to reports, Arsenal have put aside £45million for the Frenchman this summer, but they are still struggling to convince the La Liga side to sell.
Madrid will only sell Benzema if they find a suitable replacement, and according to reports, that replacement would have to be either Sergio Aguero or Marco Reus.
If Madrid fail to land either of those and therefore refuse to sell Benzema, Arsenal will turn their attentions to Aubameyang, a player they were interested in earlier this summer.
However, the Premier League outfit will struggle to land the pacy forward as he recently signed a long-term deal with the Bundesliga club.
It’s believed that with time running out in the transfer window, Arsenal do have back-up options in mind, and if they fail to land Benzema, they will try and lure Aubameyang to the club.
