Liverpool striker praises former-team mate before being abused by fans

Another day, another Mario Balotelli controversy. The Liverpool striker has tweeted out saying well done to former team-mate Raheem Sterling for scoring on his Manchester City debut.

The England international left Anfield for the Etihad Stadium in a deal worth £49million, and today saw his official debut for the club against AS Roma in a pre-season game.

It took just two minutes for Sterling to make an impact as he slotted home to give The Citizens the lead.

Balotelli Praises Sterling

After the game, Balotelli took to his official Twitter account and tweeted the following: ‘Well done ! Best answer. Keep it up.’

His tweet didn’t go down well with some Liverpool fans who reacted angrily to their player congratulating the star who recently left them.

Most of the tweets were explicit from Liverpool fans, but the majority of them advised him to leave the club.

However, the Italian striker quickly tried to save face with a couple of tweets explaining why he congratulated the winger.
