Thomas Vermaelen is closing in on his Barcelona move after Arsenal accepted a rumoured £10.3 million for the Belgian defender from the Spanish giants. Manchester United kept pushing for a deal with Arsenal for Vermaelen, but the Gunners were adament not to sell the 28-year-old to another Premier League club, especially not to an old rival like Arsenal.
The North London club will now look for a replacement with Daniel Agger and Matija Nastasic linked with the club.
