Javier Mascherano is set to leave Barcelona after nearly eight years. The Argentinian is most likely to join Chinese Super League side Hebei China Fortune.
The 33-year-old won as many as 18 trophies with the club, including four La Liga and two Champions League titles.
He had joined the club in 2010 from Liverpool for £17m, and in 334 appearances, scored a solitary goal.
Barcelona close to their 2nd signing!
According to the official Barcelona club website, Mascherano will be given a formal farewell by the club in the Auditori 1899, an event that will be attended by club president Josep Maria Bartomeu, as well as the first team squad.
There was a joke inside the club that Mascherano had, in his long career at Barcelona, never scored a single goal for the club. The defender famously ended the drought last season, when he scored off a penalty against Osasuna.
Mascherano will follow the ceremony with an appearance at the club’s Copa del Rey clash against Espanyol.
