Swansea City have joined rivals Cardiff in the race to sign Blackpool winger Tom Ince.

Earlier in the week Cardiff had their bid of around £8 million accepted by Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston, but it now seems as if Swansea are set to go head to head with their Welsh rivals for the in-demand youngster.

Ince’s father and manager Paul commented

“I think it’s 50-50 at the moment. It’s a tricky one for me because obviously you want your son to be playing in the Premier League, but you obviously want your son to be playing with you.

“As far as improvement is concerned there’s still a long way for Thomas to go and will he get that if he went to the Premier League? I’m not too sure.

“I know what he needs because he’s grown up with me. Another year wouldn’t hurt him at Blackpool.”

One club who are set to profit as the battle for Ince intensifies is Liverpool.

When Ince departed Anfield in 2011, Liverpool inserted a sell on clause believed to be between 35 and 45 %, meaning any transfer sum will have to be split with Brendon Rodgers’ side.
