Bayern Munich are interested in signing Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic after the Serbian has had yet another superb season at Stamford Bridge.
The versatile defender has just 12-months remaining on his current deal, and Munich are ready to launch a formal offer at the end of the season to test whether Chelsea will choose to cash in on him or not.
Jose Mourinho wants The Blues to offer the 31-year-old a new long-term deal, but due to the club’s policies regarding players over-30, they will only be prepared to offer him a one-year extension.
However, Munich are prepared to offer Ivanovic the long-term deal he is seeking, which leaves Chelsea in a hard situation as to whether they should cash in this Summer, or risk losing him on a free next year.
Mourinho hails Ivanovic as one of his best signings ever, costing the club just £9.5million from Lokomotiv Moscow back in 2008, and he is desperate to keep him at Stamford Bridge for the foreseeable future.
