Despite it seeming that Reus will stay at the Signal Iduna Park for this season at least, Franz Beckenbauer still feels that a transfer may be on the cards, with Manchester United the most likely target.

The man who guided West Germany to World Cup glory back in 1990, is now the President of Bayern Munich, another club heavily linked with the winger’s signature.

The ex-defender told Bild: “If you can get a player of his class, you need to try it.

“I am sure: if he doesn’t go to Bayern in 2015, he will probably go to another big international club such as Real Madrid or Manchester United.

“Dortmund are unlikely to be able to hold on to him.”

Tt has been widely reported that Reus’ buy-out clause will be reduced to around £20m at the end of this season and big spenders Bayern will certainly not be put off by that price tag.

If Reus does make the switch then he will be reunited with former team-mates Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski, who both made the switch in the summers of2013 and 2014 respectively.
