Saido Berahino has rejected a new four-year contract with West Bromwich Albion, with interest from Crystal Palace, Watford and Stoke growing.
The 22-year-old was famously embroiled in a transfer saga last summer, after an impressive 2014/15 season saw the Burundi-born striker netting 20 times, and West Brom subsequently rejected bids from Tottenham, amounting to around £22 million.
A fall out between the player and the club, following the Baggies’ refusal to sell, ultimately had an impact on his performances last season, netting just seven goals in all competitions. While Newcastle saw a £21 million rejected in January.
And Spurs have since refused to get embroiled in another bidding war, this time with more potential suitors, until given the go ahead from the midlands outfit. But West Brom were adamant at making another attempt to secure the former England Under-21’s future at the club.
Berahino took the Premier League surprise in his breakthrough season, but has since failed to live up to the expectations he made for himself. However, a move to Tottenham is now seemingly off the cards for the striker, as Spurs close in on the £18.8 million signing of Dutch striker Vincent Janssen.
