FC Nantes defender set for Chelsea move

Chelsea Football Club are set to sign Papy Djilobodji from FC Nantes after it emerged that he’s undergoing a medical in London.

The 26-year-old is expected to be unveiled as a Chelsea player either later this evening or sometime tomorrow during deadline day.

The two clubs have agreed on a fee, believed to be around £2.7million, and the defender will arrive to provide competition for the likes of Gary Cahill, John Terry and Kurt Zouma.

Stones Pursuit Over?

With Jose Mourinho deciding to sign Djilobodji, it may be evidence that he’s given up trying to sign John Stones from Everton after they saw three bids turned down by Roberto Martinez.

Mourinho isn’t happy with his defence so far this season, in particular Branislav Ivanovic, who has not been able to cope with the pace of opposition.

Djilobodji has made over 150 league appearances for Nantes during his five years with the club.
