Liverpool striker set to complete move

Rickie Lambert is set to undergo a medical at West Bromwich Albion after agreeing to leave Liverpool.

The veteran striker only moved to Anfield this time last year after agreeing to a £4million switch from Southampton.

However, after failing to break into the first-team and recent new arrivals at the club, his first-team status diminished even further.

Last season Lambert was behind the likes of Daniel Sturridge and Mario Balotelli, and this year he would likely be behind those two as well as Christian Benteke, Danny Ings and Divock Origi.

It’s not yet understood what sort of transfer fee it is between WBA and Liverpool, but according to Sky Sports News, the striker is currently having a medical at the club.

The news comes just a day after Tony Pulis praised the 33-year-old and admitted that if he signed for The Baggies, it would be a great coup for the club.

Pulis Praise

Pulis said: “It’s very important that we get players who will score goals, Rickie’s got a great goalscoring record.

“From what I can gather from people at Liverpool, his fitness levels are very, very good and he is desperate to play football.

“He didn’t play much last year, so it would be like bringing a brand new car out of the garage if we did sign him, just putting a bit of petrol in it and letting it run.”
