Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso could look for a move after falling down the pecking order with the arrival of James Rodriguez and Toni Kroos.

He also fights for a first team place with Luka Modric so playing time will become more and more limited for the Spaniard.

And when asked if the midfielder could make a move back to Liverpool, Carragher tweeted: “maybe, with Kroos and Modric pulling the strings tonight may need a game!”

Alonso added another piece of silverware to his name as Real saw off Sevilla with a 2-0 win in Cardiff last night.

He also won the Champions League with the Reds back in 2005 and crowned off his Anfield achievements by lifting the FA Cup a year later.

Alonso has since gone on to make 210 appearances for ‘Los Blancos’ since his £30m switch in 2010, and Brenden Rodgers, who has secured the signing of Alberto Moreno for £12m, has hinted at the possibility of further signings.

He said: “We would still like to do some business.

“Across the board we still want to add a little bit more depth to what we have.”
