Chelsea and Manchester United are set to battle yet again for a Real Madrid star as their attentions turn to Luka Modric.

The English duo have previously been linked with signing both Sami Khedira and Raphael Varane from the Bernabeu, but they are now looking into signing the Croatian playmaker.

According to reports, Modric is considering a return to England due to his other-half failing to settle to life in Spain.

The couple moved to Spain back in 2011 when Modric agreed to join Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur, and despite spending a few years there, it’s clear a move back to England is wanted.

Chelsea wanted to originally sign the 29-year-old after he agreed to leave Spurs, but the Croat eventually chose Madrid over The Blues.

However, with a return to England wanted, both United and Chelsea are keen to sign the midfielder and are both prepared to pay near £50million.
