Bayern Munich midfielder, Xabi Alonso, believes that Jose Mourinho’s, Chelsea, are the only English team who could possibly win this year’s Champions League.
The former-Liverpool star, who joined Munich in the Summer after leaving Real Madrid, is hoping he can once again become a Champions League winner with his new side, and he believes from England, Chelsea are the only real candidates.
The Blues are joined by; Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal in the Champions League from England, but Alonso believes only one can realistically win the tournament.
Alonso predicted that the tournament is between five teams; Two from Spain, two from Germany, one from England and one from France.
“Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, ourselves – Dortmund are always a tricky club to play against,” Alonso said. “So I respect lots of clubs; Paris Saint Germain as well. It’s quite open.”
