Technical Director has backed club’s decision to send out players

Chelsea’s Technical Director Michael Emenalo has defended the club’s decision to send out 33 players on loan for the 2015/2016 campaign.

Eyebrows have been raised in recent seasons due to the Blues sending out players to their feeder clubs and also lower league clubs, but Emenalo has backed their decision.

The Premier League champions came under questioning from PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor for their loan deals, which has seen 33 players leave Stamford Bridge on temporary deals.

However, Emenalo has defended their choices and believes it’s a win-win for all parties involved.

Director Defends Decisions

Emenalo said: “We have the difficult job of trying to balance being successful with making sure we have the right players at the right time.

“Sometimes we know there are players whose development is not finished, just like Victor [Moses], who we want to keep with our squad but who maybe needs to play more football to get to the level we think he can get to, because he is very, very talented.”

The director then added that Juan Cuadrado was allowed to leave the club in order to join Juventus so that he could re-find his confidence and come back a better player.

The club spent just over £23million on the Colombian in January.
