Blues want to lure Liverpool striker to Stamford Bridge

Chelsea are reportedly eyeing up Liverpool striker Christian Benteke, and could make a formal bid in January.

The Blues have recently swapped managers, with Jose Mourinho out the door and Guus Hiddink in for the remainder of the season.

The Dutchman has already told Roman Abramovich and the Chelsea board that a new striker is needed in January, with Jamie Vardy and Saido Berahino the two names reportedly mentioned.

However, the latest striker to be linked with a move to Stamford Bridge is none other than Benteke, who only moved to Liverpool over the summer from Aston Villa.

Benteke scored against Chelsea earlier in the season and the Blues were one of the interested parties over the summer before the Belgian moved to Anfield.

Chelsea Renew Benteke Interest

Chelsea officials initially refused to meet Villa‘s demands of £32million, but they are now ready to launch an ambitious bid to sign him from their rivals.

The 25-year-old has failed to settle in at Liverpool, with injuries becoming a problem and the style of football not really suiting his abilities.

As of yet, it’s expected Jurgen Klopp won’t sell Benteke to Chelsea, but if the German can find a suitable replacement, then a deal could be arranged.
