Chelsea are on the verge of signing Corinthians striker Alexandre Pato, according to reports in Brazil.
The Brazilian forward has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League, but it was expected he’d join Liverpool, with some reports claiming the deal was already done.
It was claimed the Reds had agreed to pay £11.8million for the striker, but it’s now reported that it’s Chelsea who are in fact in pole position to sign the former-AC Milan star.
According to ESPN, Pato‘s representatives are in London and are in talks with officials from Stamford Bridge regarding a possible transfer.
It’s well documented that Guus Hiddink wants to sign a striker this window, and Pato could be deemed a cheap and feasible option.
