Blues to go higher than £33million

Chelsea are ready to make a new and improved bid for Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos, according to reports.

The Premier League champions had TWO formal bids turned down for the Brazilian on Transfer Deadline Day back in the summer, with the latter being worth around £33million.

According to reports this morning, Chelsea and Jose Mourinho are still interested in landing the centre-back, and will go higher than £33m in the New Year.

Improved Offer for Centre-Back

It’s not yet understood whether they will make a move in January or wait until next summer, but it’s believed Mourinho is prepared to offer in excess of £33m.

Chelsea also missed out on signing John Stones from Everton during the summer transfer window, leaving Mourinho with no defensive additions until he signed two on the cheap during Deadline Day.

According to French magazine Le10 SportChelsea will launch a fresh bid for Marquinhos as the defender continues to struggle for game-time in Paris.

David Luiz and Thiago Silva are both ahead of the 21-year-old in the pecking order at PSG, and with game-time limited, the Brazilian could be ready to leave Laurent Blanc‘s side.
