Chelsea didn’t make a formal bid for Liverpool star Raheem Sterling after they were put off by the £50million price-tag that The Reds put on the winger’s head.
It was reported that The Blues were seriously interested in signing the 20-year-old up until the point they realised Brendan Rodgers wanted £50m for him.
Instead, Chelsea refused to launch a formal bid and the winger ended up joining Manchester City in a deal worth £49m.
Jose Mourinho is thought to be a big fan of Sterling, and with his age and also his homegrown status, he could have been a valuable addition for the West London outfit.
However, the asking-price was enough to make Chelsea drop their interest, despite the winger initially wanting a move to London in order to move closer to home.
Sterling was unveiled as a City player yesterday and is now jetting out to Australia in order to meet up with his new team-mates on their pre-season tour.
