Chelsea talk about Gianluigi Donnarumma
Marco Amelia reveals goalkeeper coaches love AC Milan youngster
Chelsea goalkeeper Marco Amelia has admitted the coaches at the club talk about AC Milan youngster Gianluigi Donnarumma a lot, sparking speculation that they could launch a bid over the summer.
The 16-year-old shot-stopper is dominating the headlines over in Italy for stamping his mark on Milan‘s first-team over the past few months.
Donnarumma became the youngest ever Milan goalkeeper to feature in the Milan derby over the weekend as they brushed aside fierce-rivals Inter Milan 3-0.
According to reports, he’s already being tipped as the next Gianluigi Buffon, and Manchester United have already shown interest in the teenager.
However, according to Amelia, the Chelsea coaches cannot get enough of the 16-year-old and are always talking about him.
Amelia Hints at Chelsea Interest
“Perhaps he’s spoken about more abroad,” Amelia said. “I’m here in London, and he’s talked about so much by our scouts here in London and by our goalkeeping coaches.
“Donnarumma is being followed by many clubs, but I’m sure Milan will keep him because they need players who will stay in the Rossoneri shirt for many years.
“He’s made his own path, and this year he’s shown himself to be ready.
“Young lads with good physiques are a dime a dozen, but it’s his attitude and personality that set him apart. If you talk to him he seems like a 25 or 30-year-old, but he’s not yet 17.”
The goalkeeper is contracted at the San Siro until 2018.
