Chelsea to hijack Barcelona’s move for Brazilian star

Chelsea have a very good scout system in Brazil. They have managed to get some brilliant wonderkids like Piazon and Kenedy but have never really given them a chance to play regularly in the first team.

The Blues’ are now keen on signing another wonderkid from the South American country. Reports in Express claim that Chelsea are looking to sign Gremio star Arthur in January.

The midfielder is on the verge of joining Barcelona and is reportedly set to head to Catalonia for his medical soon. He was spotted in the Spanish side’s jersey last week alongside Barcelona sporting director, Robert Fernandez.

The 21-year-old has a £44 million release clause and Gremio are not willing to sell him for anything less. The Brazilian side’s president, Romildo Bozan last week said, “Arthur has a contract with Gremio and a release clause of £44 million. If they pay that we can’t do anything but there is no conversation or negotiations open.”
